Things have not always been easy for Lisa.
In February 2012, the weekend prior to Valentine Day, Lisa found a lump in her breast. Consequently, at the age of 28 she was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer also known as BRCA1 gene mutation.
From finding the lump up until diagnosis, Lisa remained confident that she would be okay because she just came out of an abusive marriage, and thought surely the Lord would not put more on her, right?
Well, about two weeks after she was diagnosed with breast cancer the journey to wellness began. Amid her journey, she endured six months of chemotherapy that
produced times when she was very ill and had to be hospitalized. Along with that, she had a lumpectomy and a tram flap double mastectomy with reconstruction, none of it was easy.
What made this process even harder for Lisa was the fact that she was in school for her Master Degree and wasn't working. However, Lisa remained optimistic because she was eager to succeed and give her children a better childhood than she had.
Throughout this process Lisa learned how to allow her children and others to provide her with help and support. As a result, her faith grew because of God's keeping grace.
With all things endured, Lisa has now been six years Breast Cancer free, she completed her Master’s Degree, and her family is thriving.
