It’s #MISSIONmonday in the #BeGre8t! By Victoria R Gaskin Facebook Group. This is when the community zones in on thoughts, activities, and conversations that keep us focused on our pursuit to #BEGRE8T!
This week’s MISSION is to prepare a Personal Mission Statement. A personal mission statement is a sentence that reflects your individual purpose, goals, and desired impact. Like a business’s mission statement, your personal mission statement should communicate your core values, guiding principles, and govern your current and future trajectory.
When formulating one you should be clear, concise, and straight to the point on what your life should represent.
Realistically, your personal mission statement ought to address the WHO and WHAT about you.
1. Who you are.
2. What you stand for.
3. What you want to add to the world.
Here are a few examples from forbes.com.
Oprah Winfrey, OWN “To be a teacher. And to be known for inspiring my students to be more than they thought they could be.”
Richard Branson, The Virgin Group ”To have fun in (my) journey through life and learn from (mistakes).”
Amy Ziari, “Pasta” “To live life with integrity and empathy, and be a positive force in the lives of others.”
Did you notice how each individual ingrafted their unique personality within their personal mission statement?
The great thing about creating a personal mission statement is that you can make it reflect whatever floats your boat, as long as you plan to live by it. Personally, I appreciate Richard Branson’s pre-approval to have fun during the entirety of his life!
I'm sure inquiring minds want to know if I have one - yes I do. I'll share my personal personal mission statement next #MISSIONmonday.
